Resources and Incentives

  • LARExC is non-profit, non-partisan, membership-based organization serving the Los Angeles region to promote and facilitate global trade and investment. It was established following the recommendations of the Brookings Institution. Since 2009, Brookings has provided LARExC guidance and counsel to continue developing export and foreign investment initiatives to create regional employment.

  • LAVA provides forums for entrepreneurs and executives of middle-market companies t meet and learn from fellow executives, investors, bankers, financial advisors and other providers of professional services.

  • The LA Women Mean Business Initiative, launched on Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, November 19, 2018, is a campaign by the Capital Consortium to deliver coordinated services and resources toward addressing the unique needs,and opportunities of women-owned businesses throughout the City, increasing their capacity to access capital and grow exponentially. It consists of seven components with partners associated with each on

  • Managed Career Services (MCS) is a network of offices that provide small business owners and entrepreneurs with free services, including assistance with business registration, training and permitting, and access to funding. MCS is a city-sponsored BusinessSource Center.

  • Manufacturers and certain research and developers may qualify for a partial exemption of sales and use tax on certain manufacturing and research and development equipment purchases and leases.

  • A division of the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, Community Business helps small businesses start, grow, and thrive by offering strategic business insights, coordinating information and resources provided by City Departments, and fostering collaboration among business source providers.

  • This is particularly important when manufacturers must engage with multiple export assistance agencies and organizations. NTE 101 services include assessments, counseling, and training to help participants identify target markets, develop export market plans, find overseas buyers and distributors, secure export financing and insurance, comply with regulations, and ultimately deliver their product.

    The Milken Institute’s NTE 101-Los Angeles provides each participating NTE with a mentor to guide them through a standardized set of services to ensure they receive the knowledge, training, and support they need to succeed.

  • The Minority Business Development Agency Business Center is part of USC's Business Expansion Network and provides access to educational and technical resources that foster business expansion and job creation.

  • The National Association of Minority Contractors of Southern California connects major corporate partners with minority contractors.

  • The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) provides resources, programs and other benefits to the women-owned business community.
