By city ordinance, Los Angeles has new minimum wage laws that gradually increase the minimum wage of all employees to $15 by 2020. The $15 minimum wage is being phased in with a step increase on July 1 of each year from 2016 to 2020 to enable business owners to prepare for this change. Businesses with 25 or fewer employees will have an additional year to comply. The Minimum Wage Ordinance applies to all full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees who work in Los Angeles for more than 2 hours a week.
